Job Description

The Regional Operations Manager – Multi-Site (Charter Schools NY and Northern Ohio) is responsible for overseeing a broad range of preventive and corrective maintenance and custodial services across five charter school campuses in New York and Southern Ohio. This role plays a vital part in ensuring that all facilities are safe, operational, clean, and welcoming for students, staff, and visitors.

The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, and highly skilled in facilities oversight and can manage multiple priorities across geographically dispersed locations with minimal supervision.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site support for both custodial and maintenance needs at 5 assigned charter school locations.
  • Safely operate a service vehicle for regular travel between school sites.
  • Engage and manage vendors for maintenance projects involving fixtures, hardware, furniture, and infrastructure (e.g., doors, windows, appliances, locks, outlets, faucets, tiles, carpet/flooring, roofing, etc.).
  • Possess technical knowledge of key building systems and trades (painting, plumbing, electrical, masonry, carpentry, HVAC controls) to communicate and coordinate appropriate services; hands-on work may be limited.
  • Interview, hire, onboard, and conduct performance evaluations for custodial and maintenance staff.
  • Oversee janitorial operations, including cleaning of common areas, classrooms, restrooms, stairwells, kitchens, and maintaining exterior grounds and landscaping.
  • Develop and manage schedules that align with the required scope of work while adhering to budget constraints.
  • Demonstrate expertise in building maintenance standards, including equipment operation, restroom sanitation, hard floor and carpet care, chemical use, and general office cleaning.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with tenants, contractors, and internal staff.
  • Respond promptly to emergency maintenance situations across all assigned schools.
  • Ensure the safe and effective use of tools, chemicals, and equipment by staff.
  • Order, track, and manage supplies required for custodial and maintenance operations.
  • Utilize the organization’s CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to manage work orders, document services, and ensure timely completion.
  • Maintain strong organizational and time management skills essential for multi-site operations.
  • Perform regular facility inspections, address routine maintenance, and escalate larger issues as needed.
  • Remain on call to respond to after-hours and weekend emergencies.

Qualifications

    • 3–5 years of experience in facilities, maintenance, custodial supervision, or a related field.
    • Strong working knowledge of building systems, custodial operations, and vendor management.
    • Experience managing multi-site locations is preferred.
    • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
    • Proficiency in using maintenance software (CMMS), email, and mobile communication tools.
    • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
    • Ability to work independently and prioritize workload across multiple locations.
    • Comfortable working in K–8 school environments.
    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various facility environments.
